A black person elected to the highest Office of a fledgling America couldn’t protect black people from institutional white racism in 1781, and a black man in the highest elected office of America has no formal power to stop black children from being murdered by racist thugs in the property reckon streets they have no choice but to live and play in 2015,

Before we get carried away, John Hanson owned slaves just like George Washington. Let the record show that he was a planter and benefitted from the slave economy. He recruited soldiers from the south for Washington’s army and paid their salaries out of his own pocket. A true patron of the American Revolution, albeit on the backs of his slaves. He is one of two people immortalized from Maryland in Statuary Hall in DC.
