This is not the first Jackass Penguins album. No way. In fact, it was the fifth Jackass Penguins album in 1995 alone. But it was the first album that I can listen to in its entirety today and say “Yeah, that’s good enough to release to the public.” There were good moments to many of the previous albums, but I will be the first to admit that those albums are GODAWFUL and I would not subject you to them.
(I have thought about re-recording some of the earlier albums, as my inexperience contributed to their awfulness, not the song structure. But who knows if that will ever happen.)
And that’s not to say that there aren’t awful moments on this album, because there are many. But there are more good things than bad, and for someone who had only begun writing and recording songs in 1993, that’s a good enough reason for me to release it. So without further adieu, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the 1995 Jackass Penguins album “Songs for a Lost Generation.”
