I’m a few days late, but last weekend marked the third anniversary of the release of this album. The project was started in 2002 and dropped due to life, i.e., starting my career after college and having a real relationship with my future spouse. The actual recording sessions were somewhat hasty, with the album being recorded in four days. Twelve songs, each recorded using all four tracks of tape. This album was also the first to be available outside of BandCamp. A physical version was intended, but never materialized. Looking back, I probably would have trimmed the accordion songs and maybe take additional takes on some of the other songs. The mixing isn’t the greatest either. But, I am happy that I had the opportunity to complete a project I started so long ago, even if it was rushed.

A year ago today, I mixed down the tapes to my computer and uploaded the album to BandCamp by midnight 4/1. You can download the album for free for a limited time. Since then, the album has also become available on Google Play and iTunes, or for streaming on Spotify. But why bother when you can have the deluxe version for FREE?

Flat Earth Society update 3/25/2014

Recorded Silver Queen and Reasons to Live, so that makes 6 songs for today and ten total for the album. I am still trying to figure out if there is anything else to add to this record. It is definitely not what I expected, but I like it.

One year ago I wrote Nevada Landing and recorded Nevada Landing, Honest Engine, B.K.K., Flat Earth Society, Silver Queen and Reasons to Live. That’s half of the album in one day. There was only two songs left to be recorded.
